so i’m watching the adele tour and she’s explaining how she came to write turning tables. and apparently it was all inspired by DIM SUM!!! it was also about a fight but the fight was at a dim sum restaurant and she was inspired by those asian turning table things. i’m laughing so hard it’s ridiculous. now when ever i hear turning tables i’ll think of shu mai

So true! when I was in china over spring break, I did this sooo many times. it was because in ancient china, there was an emperor who liked to converse with his people and take part in commoner things. He would go to dim sum (yum tsa) with his helpers and such, but they couldn’t bow down to him when he poured them tea, like they usually would. So, to bow to him secretly, they tapped their fingers which is supposed to be a person bowing down.
